Head Injury

Description: We offer support services to individuals with acquired brain injury and their families, spouses & partners, friends and the general community within the southern Vancouver Island area. We take a holistic approach, integrating our services throughout the community: doctor’s offices, hospitals, schools, colleges and universities, police departments, EMS personnel and the penal system. The support of Victoria Brain Injury Society is felt far beyond our office walls.

We have a wide variety of volunteer positions at the Society, which are open to everyone. These positions provide valuable training and integration for survivors. Interested survivors who are ready to be ‘other-focused’ can attend an intensive six week training course for the Peer Support program. This program makes it possible for survivors to drop in on an informal basis and receive qualified peer support.

Additional Information: Our staff facilitate life planning after brain injury. They help survivors and families map out the next steps, through referrals and the provision of sources of reference. There are numerous programs available to survivors.
